Why?! God Is Pulling Me Away From My Goal!
Have you ever experienced a moment in your life, that even if you think that you have already seen your goal and taking the right path towards it, in the end, it seems that you are doing it all wrong? Or have your ever worked on something, expecting it to be a job well done, but still didn't go the way you planned it to be? Or is it that you are about to start doing something you know is beneficial, but an obstacle happened and you feel that it's not the right time? You're not alone! We are all experiencing failure that seems impossible to repair, pain that's seems cannot be taken away from our hearts, waiting moments that we think there is nothing we can do but to just wait, and many more. We all experience these things, and for sure no one is exempted, NOT EVEN JESUS! In Matthew chapter 4 verses 1 to 3 we can read:
'Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him...'
Allow me to give you the encouragement this passage in the scripture have for us.
Jesus knew that he was about to start his ministry, but we can read in this passage from Matthew chapter 4 that the Spirit led him to the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, and then he fast and pray for forty days and forty nights. Why is it that when Jesus is just about to start his mission, the Spirit led him into a place wherein there is no one whom he could teach? And one more thing, Jesus is God, we all know that, Christians know that. Then why did he fast?
There are three things God is showing us through this passage, and here they are:
1. God allow us to experience drawbacks and setbacks - it's not failure until you quit! Winners could be wounded; however, they chose to just stand on their feet and fight again. Realigning their actions and finding better ways to do something over and over again until they win. Remember? Jesus was about to start his ministry, but the Spirit led him to the wilderness. A wilderness is a place where there are wild animals, no food or drink, and nothing at all. Does God wanted him to be eaten by those ferocious beasts or die in hunger with the devil teasing him? It's as if there was nowhere he could go but I believe it's absolutely not God's intention! Sometimes we experience failures that we feel so depressing, or we knew our goals in life, but the universe is not allowing us to make at least a single step; a situation in which we know we couldn't make it or we feel something is delayed. But remember that it's NOT God's intention for you to just give up and die. No! But He allowed those to happen, for you to give your whole trust on Him. See what Jesus had done, he FAST and PRAY! He's teaching us that whenever we face difficulties and can't hear God's voice, PUT YOUR TRUST IN GOD -- IN HIS HEART, ASK HIM FOR STRENGTH, and RE-POSITION YOURSELF TO REACH GOD'S PERFECT DESTINATION.
2. The devil will surely come to whisper that little voice of doubt to make you quit - the devil is the father of all lies. He makes you doubt your God given ability, goals, and passions. He'll do everything just to see you fall, he even use good things to deceive you. Jesus got hungry, and that's when the devil came! The devil will surely come to you at your weakest point, so, be watchful, Jesus fast and pray to strengthen himself, because 'the spirit is indeed willing, but the body is weak'. Follow the steps of Jesus, do what he does. Instead of doubting God's promises, doubt your doubt!
3. Take aim while God is pulling you - as I've mentioned above, ASK HIM FOR STRENGTH AND RE-POSITION YOURSELF. Be like a bow and an arrow, God will pull you, but as God pulls you, TAKE AIM! Sometimes failure and waiting are best time for us to reflect with ourselves, so if God makes you wait, it's for you to prepare! If there's mistake, don't rush to try again, but think first and see what cause the mistake. Don't loose you vision, set your eyes towards your goal while realigning!
Thank Jesus for his example
It's all thanks to Jesus, he gave us an example to follow in every situation. Remember that when God is pulling the string, that's the time when you could take the aim!
